Genesis & John : The Great Connection

To understand and accept John 3, one must understand and accept Genesis 3. The one necessitates the other, for the truth revealed is as closely related as cause and effect. To deny Genesis 3 which reveals the entrance of sin into human life, separating man from God, is to deny John 3 which reveals the entrance of the Saviour into human life, reuniting man with God. If Genesis 3 is not true, then John 3 is not true. If Genesis 3 is not true, then there is no need for and no sense in John 3. If Genesis 3 is a myth, then John 3 is a farce.(1)

  Spiritual Death

Gen 3: The fall of man

  Spiritual Life

Jn 3:5-8 Jesus tells Nicodemus that he needs 'spiritual rebirth' that is to be 'born again' to have spiritual life and to see the Kingdom of God

Gen 3:6-7 Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge (rebellion) Jn 3:4 Nicodemus' questions Jesus. His question revealed the need for light, spiritual light which is a product of a spiritual life. Nicodemus was spiritually blind because he was spiritually dead (2)

Fellowship with God has now been severed

Gen 3:24 Adam and Even are banished from the Garden

Fellowship with God and entrance into His Kingdom

Jn 3:5 Jesus tells Nicodemus how he can enter the Kingdom of God. ( He must be born of water and of the Spirit)

 * Rom 3:23 all have sinned * Jn 3:16 God loved the world so much that he gave His only Son to save the world through him.

 * Remember KNOWLEDGE does not equal SALVATION. It's not what you know but WHO you know that leads you into ETERNAL LIFE!!
