One Class, One Hope
Q: Are there two hopes? One hope for heaven and one for earth?
Q: Is there actually a special group of people that will go to heaven?
1. Paul said in Ephesians 4:4 'There is ONE body and ONE Spirit, just as you were called to the ONE hope that belongs to your call.
2. The Bible is clear that it does not make a 'distinction' of two hopes.
3. Paul also states that in Christ there is no difference between Greek, Jew or slave so certainly there would be no reason to believe that God's people are to live with a 'class distinction' or with two different hopes!
The other sheep (Gentiles) are gathered into one flock, one shepherd. These other sheep are specifically identified, not as an earthly class or heavenly class, but as gentiles joined together with the Jews into one hope (according to Eph 2:4-24).
John 10:16, Jesus says: "And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; those also I must bring, and they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock, one shepherd".
It is obvious that Jesus is referring to the Gentiles (non-Jews).
There are two groups that God intended to bring together into
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
According to Jn 1:12-13 Yet to all who receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, children not born of natural descent, nor human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
It is clear that 'all who believe' that is 'born of the spirit' will receive eternal life... period. If you are born of the spirit (see Gospel of John Ch 3) you will inherit the Kingdom of God, otherwise you will be separated from God eternally.
There is no indication that some will receive two types of rewards.... eternal or earthly life.
