What Does God Require of Us?

Questions for Lesson 3

Who Is Jesus Christ?

Lesson 3.1: Jehovah used the prehuman Jesus as his 'master worker" in creating all other things in heaven and on earth (Proverbs 8:22-31; Colossians 1:16,17)
Keep in mind that according to the 1984 ed. of the NWT: John 1:3 All [other] things came into existence through him, apart from him not even one thing came into existence.
According to other translations John 1:3 Jesus created ALL things, and Hebrews 1:3 the whole universe is sustained by his word.

Compare the NWT translation of Colossians 1:16that has the word 'other' inserted. The KJV, Amplified, NAS, New International , Good News Bible and NIV do not have "other" inserted into the text. Please note that 'other' is not found in the Greek or the Diaglott published by the International Bible Students Association (WTS) (1942).

Q: How does this verse render without the word "other" inserted?
Read Col 1:16,17 without the word 'other' inserted: " For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities -- all things have been created through Him and for Him He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. . " (Also read Heb. 1:10,11 with Psa. 102:25-27)
Q: If you were to read this passage without the aid of WTS materials would you have come to the same conclusion? (that Jesus created all things )
Q: Why do you think the word 'other' was added?

Contrast the above scriptures with Isaiah 45:12 It is I who made the earth, and created man upon it. I stretched out the heavens with My hands And I ordained all their host. (also see Isa 45:18 / Psalms 90:2)

Q: Who ALONE made the earth and man upon it?

Q: If God created all things ....what 'other things' did Jesus create?

Q: If the NWT rendering of Col 1:16 is "all other things' then we must preclude that that ALL Old Testament records of God creating the universe are incorrect right?
Q: According to Colossians 1:16, Jn 1:1-3 , Heb 1:1-2 Jesus the Son alone created the universe and yet in the Old Testament we see that God alone created the universe. who then must Jesus Christ be?
