What Does God Require of Us?

Questions for Lesson 3

Who Is Jesus Christ?

Lesson: 3:6 Jesus died and was resurrected by God as a spirit creature, and he returned to heaven (1 Peter 3:18).
(see section on resurrection)
Q: According to WTS doctrine Jesus was resurrected as a spirit creature or a ghost but is this what the scriptures really mean?
Q: What is a resurrection? According to Webster's New World Dictionary: a rising from the dead. According to Roget's College Thesaurus in Dictionary Form states that "resurrect" means the following: restore, revive, renew, rebuild, reestablish
Q: Does arising from the dead as a ghost sound like a resurrection to you?
Q: Didn't Jesus say he would raise his own body from the grave? see John 2 :18-22 (vs 21 "But he was talking about the temple of his body NWT) (remember spirits don't have bodies)

Consider 1 Peter 3:19, it simply means that which was raised in an imperishable body (it's the same body but now imperishable) c.f. 1 Cor 15:35-45 is sown perishable, raised perishable (photofinish@hotmail.com).

John 2:18-19 The Jews then said to Him, What sign do You show us as your authority for doing these things? Jesus answered them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up...John 2:21 But He was speaking of the temple of His body.
Q: What evidence do we have that Jesus was resurrected bodily? see vs 21.

Mat 28:9 And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him.
Q: If Jesus was a ghost how could the woman take hold of Christ's feet?

Luke 24:15-16 While they were talking and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and began traveling with them. But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him. (See NWT)
Q: Why couldn't they recognize Christ? What was the problem? Ghost or an 'eye' problem?

Luke 24:31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight.
Q: Who opened their eyes to recognize the risen Christ?

Luke 24:36-37 While they were telling these things, He Himself stood in their midst. But they were startled and frightened and thought that they were seeing a spirit.
Q: What did the apostles think they saw? What did they really see? (see the verses below!!!)
Luke 24:39-40 See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have. And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. / Jn 2:19-21 / Jn 20:19-20 / Acts 1:3
Q: How does Christ reassure them that he is not a spirit?

Jn 20:25 So the other disciples were saying to him, We have seen the Lord! But he said to them, Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.
John 20:27-28 Then He said to Thomas, Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing. Thomas answered and said to Him, My Lord and my God!
Q: What does Christ prove to Thomas that he is a 'flesh risen Christ?'
Q: What does Christ say to Thomas to reassure him?

Luke 24:41-43 While they still could not believe it because of their joy and amazement, He said to them, Have you anything here to eat? They gave Him a piece of a broiled fish; and He took it and ate it before them.
Q: Do spirits often get hungry and eat broiled fish?

Luke 24:39 See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have. / Acts 1:3 / 1 Cor 15:50
Q: What does Christ reassure believers he is himself?
Q: Why does Christ ask his followers to touch him?
Q: Do spirits have flesh and bone?
Q: Did Jesus rise bodily?

1 Cor 15:50 Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable
Q: Can flesh and blood inherit the kingdom?
Q: Can flesh and bone? see Luke 24:39

Acts 1:3 To these He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.
Q: According the Apostles Christ gave convincing proofs that he was indeed alive in body...do you believe the apostles claims?

Q: Do you believe that Christ rose bodily from the grave? Do you put your faith in Christ's words or the WTS and their brochure?
